Cherry Ladle

Large ladle carved from a bent Cherry branch. This spoon has been worked in sympathy with the natural curve of the wood's fibres, the top of the handle has not been touched after the original cleave from the rest of the branch and still retains the deep orange colour as the green wood came into contact with the air for the first time.
The direction of the fibres has dictated the strength, form and movement of the finished ladle. This is a spoon to last a lifetime.
Collected from Frome, Somerset, carved with axe and knives, and finished with Treatex hardwax oil.
