Spoon carved from a piece of Silver Birch. Timber collected from East Woodlands, Somerset and carved with axe and knives.
Birch that has grown in dense woodland is always my preferred wood for carving. The tree has grown slowly, the growth rings building up closely spaced which allows for a clean and smooth finish as well as giving the handle plenty of character despite the plain finish
