Large serving spoon carved from a knotty Hazel crook and hand painted in a folk art style by Donna Sarah.
A one off item, the bent branch that the spoon was carved from means that the fibres run all the way along the piece giving it extra strength, a series of small knots added to the challenge of carving as the grain direction constantly changed meaning that each cut had to be approached from a different direction. the swirling grain pattern means that the spoon catches and reflects the light in different ways as it is turned in the hand.
The handle is painted by Frome based artist and illustrator Donna Sarah in a folk art style reflecting the season when it was decorated.
