Lilac spoon

Large serving spoon carved from a bent Lilac branch. This spoon has been worked in sympathy with the natural curve of the wood's fibres. I rarely find Lilac at any decent size to carve even a small spoon from and it has a tendency to twist and split so this spoon has something special about it.
The direction of the fibres has dictated the strength, form and movement of the finished spoon.
Collected from the edge of Frome, Somerset. Carved with axe and knives, and finished with Treatex hardwax oil.
